Jesus is for Life
When Christmas is over, decorations
taken down the tree and torn wrapping paper thrown out - what
else do we throw out for the garbage men to collect? The Wise
men came to bring gifts to the Lord Jesus and the shepherds came
to worship him, but they did not come eating turkey, or to sit
watching James Bond films on the telly, sadly for many...Christmas
has lost it's meaning and become detached from the real message
of Christmas.
Happy Christmas people say - but
is Christ really happy with just being remembered briefly at
Christmas? is He happy when we sing His carols but forget him
for the rest of the year? He has come that we might have eternal
life not just for 70% - 40% or 10% of our lives, He came for
the best place in our hearts, he came that we might be born again
- not just for Christmas.
I think it was Roy Wood of the
pop band, Wizard who sang "I wish it could be Christmas
every day"....well it can be when we choose to please Christ
every day, and there won't be any sleigh bells only the real
meaning of Christmas - Emmanuel, God with us...will be ours.
