SAVED BY THE LAMB In "Our Daily Bread" a daily devotional, I read the story of a church in Norway which has the carved figure of a lamb near the top of the church's tower. When the church was being built, a workman fell from scaffolding, his work mates rushed down, expecting him to be dead, but to their amazement and joy, he was alive and only slightly injured. Apparently a flock of sheep was passing beneath the tower at the time, and he landed on top of a lamb. The lamb broke his fall and was crushed to death, but the man was saved. In memory to this miraculous escape, a workman carved a lamb on the tower at the exact height from which the workman fell. This is a powerful image to us of "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (Jn. 1:29). The Lord Jesus Christ was crushed for our iniquities - we are fallen sinners but Christ who is sinless took our punishment upon himself on the cross, and now offers eternal life to all who put their faith in him. I like this very much so had to make a picture of the story, if you look carefully at the lamb you will see the crucifixion reflected in it's eye.
