This cartoon was inspired after
reading a daily devotional called Our Daily Bread and told the
story of the crane and the swan - I have put in my own words
how the story goes -
One day a crane wading in the water
was looking for snails to eat, eventually a swan glided down
and landed close by, the crane who had never seen a swan before
was intrigued by this elegant bird and enquired "What are
you and where do you come from? "I am a swan" came
the reply "and I come from heaven" the swan went on
to explain what heaven was like - about the beautiful city of
gold and the pearly gates, but the crane interrupted, and asked
"Are there snails in heaven?" "No" said the
swan "there are no snails" the crane who was not impressed,
replied "Well, I don't think I want go there - I like eating
snails!"
It's a funny story but some people
are like the crane - when they hear the the good news of Jesus
Christ, unless it ties in with earthly desires and pleasures
- their not interested, but the things of this world will pass
away shortly, it's pleasures and pastimes, and we need fix our
eyes upon Jesus, looking forward to spending Eternity with Him,
and living lives now which please God - is this the ultimate
desire in our life? or are the things of this world hindering
us?
Do not love the world or the
things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. - 1 John 2:15
