On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a load voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to recieve.......John 7: 37-39 In the picture a thirsty man in the desert, studying the Scriptures about Jesus....and believes! Immediatly streams of living water flow from within him like a waterfall, pouring out and into the desert - sparrows gather round to enjoy this refreshing spring...speak to us of how others who are thirsty want to drink the living water. The hottest place on earth is Northeastern Ethiopia, at a place called the Dallol depression, temperatures can reach as high as 145 degrees fahrenheit, it is so hot...there are few oasis to be found, but the Afar people who live here have learned to find water in unusual ways. This desert is a place of such heat...even the ground below is hot, and the springs deep underground boil, the steam makes it's way upwards...and usually the only indication at the earths surface will be plants growing which absorb the moisture....but the people here when they find patches of green plants, dig deep holes to where the steam is rising and place steel containers, they build it so the steam condenses into water and trickles into the watertank.....and will walk for miles to gather this precious water, even when they scoop it out - it is still very hot......I wonder if anyone has shown them where they can find living water? we should pray for them that they will know and that churches would reach them. The living water - the spring that Jesus speaks is the promise of the Holy Spirit for all who believe....dwelling in His Word and Love we shall be the containers through which living waters will flow....it's coolness will satisfy and when flowing out will bring refreshing in a dry and thirsty land. We can see the results of Living water - it brings refreshing wherever it goes.... Peter Iparana Studio April 30th 2003
