The picture depicts two street boys asleep in a Trash Can over a map of South America......while the hands of Jesus are reaching down to rescue.

Many children from poor families in Brazil are vulnerable and can end up living wild out on the streets, life expectancy is low as children get drawn into glue sniffing, drugs and crime. It would seem they are ignored, disregarded and thrown out by society...but God sees them differently - there is hope, Jesus.....came to seek and to save that which was lost. John 19:10

I finished painting the picture above during my last Art lesson last week teaching the boys at House of Hope, Fortaleza, Brazil. I sketched the original design back in 1999, the last time I was in Brazil, but this time I wanted to paint it in colour, I wanted to produce something special to leave behind at the House.

When I was painting the picture I talked to the boys about what I should write, one of the boys, Adriano suggested I write "Jesus rescues the lost" and wrote it in Portuguese so I could copy. (To see the picture in Portuguese click here)

I am glad Adriano shared this, it shows how much Jesus means to a child who was once an outcast on the street. Now along with others he is being cared for at House of Hope, and has the chance of a hope and a future.
